We are a day late with the Friday Round Up, so this is technically the Saturday morning round up. With it being Social Media Week in London, we have been out and about quite a bit so our tagging volume has been a bit lax! Still, hopefully you will enjoy the following six posts.

1. Practical Social Media Measurement: Cost Savings Amber Naslund

We wrote a post on this a couple of weeks ago but Amber takes it a few levels deeper and gives some metrics such as cost per issue resolution, issue resolution time and cost per $ or £ raised. While social media outreach and marketing programs are still hard to place financial metrics to, cost savings and efficiencies is a good one to take to the execs in your organization to show value.

2. Tories challenge BT and BBC as part of ‘100MB broadband’ pledge netimperative.com

Not specifically social media but apparently, if elected, the Conservative’s will do their utmost to deliver super fast broadband by 2017 and ‘break BT’s monopoly on internet connections’. Well, that would be cool wouldn’t it!

3. Xbox Live & ESPN in Talks for Live Streaming of Sporting EventsAmani

Rumours are rife that Xbox live will be offering live streaming of sports events in the very near future. It is unclear which sports and under what agreements but we are seeing this trend develop. Youtube have announced they will be streaming the Indian Premier League cricket live (and for free), one of England’s world cup qualifiers last year was streamed live…how long before we start seeing the clubs themselves trying this? Long if the current broadcasters have their way!

4.  Edelman survey: Trust in all media plunges! Tom Foremski

This was an interesting one and some bad news for the social media evangelists. The annual Edelman Trust Barometer found trust in information from friends and peers and in digital information both dropped markedly last year.  The report goes on to say trust everywhere seemed to drop last year…we are all much more suspicious these days.

5. Hunters and Farmers Seth Godin

One of my favourite posts of last week…and of many weeks for that matter. We are all farmers or hunters…both are good, very few can be both and marketers confuse them all time. Check it out…

6. Astronaut Tweets Beautiful Earth Images From SpaceBarb Dybwad

Tweeting from Space is all the rage at the moment and someone on the International Space Station used twitpic this week to send some fairly awesome pictures back to us Earth dwellers. Have a look and have a good weekend!
